These are two special Temples located north of Luxor (Dandara is 76Km , Abydos is 173.5 Km) but it’s absolutely worth the visit Our Egyptologist will pick you up in the morning after breakfast. Driving to the north of Luxor 45 minutes up to an hour to get to Dandara Temple, which is dedicated to Hathor (a cow goddess) one of the main goddess of ancient Egypt, goddess of love, joy and more.
Its magnificent temple with its colors on the ceiling or even the walls ,which antiquity department is cleaning makes the temple coming back in time . it’s one of the best preserved temples in Egypt . the standing temple is from Greek –Roman time , but Egyptologists think it was built from earlier time ,old kingdom time since we found the name of king Pepe from the 6th dynasty old kingdom.
Then we will continue to Abydos north of Dandara , probably another hour , one of the finest and best temples in Egypt from the Pharaohs time . Built by the pharaoh Seti the first finished by his son Ramses II . colors are a live and hard to believe its couple thousands of years because it is so bright.
The importance of this temple for ancient Egyptian pharaohs is that they believed that their main god of paradise OSIRIS is buried in there , what is known as the Osiron
